Origami iPad Jacket ( Cover )

The iGlaze with VersaCover case for the iPad
Covers for the iPad are more common than flies at a summer barbecue, but most are either too bulky or too simple.
Moshi, a maker of fashionable accessories for tech gadgets, has designed the iGlaze with VersaCover, a case for the iPad that tries to stand out from the crowd by integrating design and function.

The case, which sells for $60 at Moshi’s e-commerce store, looks similar to Apple’s Smart Case; its slim front (the VersaCover part) has a soft microfiber lining that protects the screen and includes built-in magnets that trigger the iPad’s auto awake and sleep modes. It also incorporates a thin polycarbonate shell (the iGlaze part) to protect the iPad’s aluminum back from scratches.
But where the Moshi case outsmarts the Smart Case is its unique front, which folds like origami to create a stand capable of propping up the iPad in portrait or landscape mode. Those magnets come in handy here for keeping the cover in its folded position.
The folding takes only a minute to get used to; you have to pinch the cover in the right spot to get the right fold. Once that’s achieved, it can support the iPad at three different angles, for movie watching, reading or typing.
The case comes in three colors, black, white and translucent (that’s a color, right?), and is designed for the new iPad, but is also compatible with the iPad 2.
The design of the case is sleek and minimal, so much so that I often could not tell which way it opened. The instructions say to hold it with the iPad’s home button facing you, but it’s hard to tell where the home button is when the cover is closed. A tiny finger tab on the front would help. But that’s a minor quibble for an otherwise beautifully designed case.

"The Origami Slate is like a Smart Cover, only smarter. It features front and back protection for your iPad, and has embedded magnets to preserve the sleep and wake features. Thanks to an innovative design, the cover folds into a number of configurations to offer more viewing angles than Apple's standard cover."
There are so many Ipad cases out there currently on the market. Some are huge and bulky. These cases take the feel and easy use away from the Ipad.
On the other hand, you have cases that are just incomplete. They only cover the front. They cost just as much as a case that covers both the front and back, but they only do half the job. What about the back? This makes no sense.
How about a case that does it all? Folds, Protects and Looks Great!

The Origami Slate case from Slate&Stylus is

  • An unique innovative design
  • Compatible with both, the iPad 2 and the New iPad
  • Lined with a soft microsuede interior to protect screen
  • Polyurethane Canvas material provides ample protection
  • Embedded with magnets in the front cover that puts your iPad to sleep when you close it, and awake it when you open it

There are so many ways to fold and use this awesome case.

College Bookstores

Originally, when I came up with the idea I wanted to focus on College Bookstores. The more popular brands already have such a strong hold on the protective case market, how can little ol' us compete? So, I figured if we targeted a niche market such as college bookstores, and sold them our cases with their college logo on it that would be cool.
Its going to be a big challenge but we believe we can get college logo branded Origami Slate cases in every College Bookstore in the nation. We need your support to make it happen.

Why Colleges?

Because students are tired of going to their college bookstores and seeing the same traditional products of the college logo t-shirt, sweatshirt and mug. They want products that will appeal to them, and our cases are the best product for the job.

Only Colleges?!

Truth is, we don't know. We might sell the plain cases online after the KickStarter campaign. We have been getting such a large demand for our cases that we really have to consider whats the best path to take.
So for right now, yes... The cases will only be sold online for the duration of our KickStarter campaign.
The Origami Slate doubles as case and a stand for the iPad. Simply fold the cover back, chose which way you want it and enjoy your perfect typing and/or viewing angle.
The Origami Slate is thin enough so it won't weigh you and your Ipad down. Yet, it also has a protective cushion in the back and is made of out of very durable polyurethane canvas. We hope you enjoy the Origami Slate case as much as we do!
